Uses
Camellias need an acid soil (or will grow in the following mix: 25% peat, 50% ericaceous compost, 25% soil).
'Kerguelen' is hardy to between -12°C and - 15°C and needs semi-shade to full shad. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or easterly winds.
Attractive all year round thanks to its remarkable flowers and elegant foliage, this variety can be grown with other acid lovers in the ground or in pots.
Prune in May or June to give the plant a good shape. Keep an eye on the watering from April to September. Use a fertilizer for ericaceous plants in the spring.

This variety has proved very resistant to disease and insects.
