Erica x darleyensis WINTER BELLES ® 'Phoebe'

Characteristics
Obtention FOREST EDGE Nurseries - European P.B.R.
WINTER BELLES ® range, already made up of ‘Katia’, ‘Lucie’ and ‘Phoebe’, is now enriched by two new selections of large-flower heathers, of low and covering shape : 'Tyann' and 'Tylou'.

'Phoebe' has a compact and rounded form and is quite slow growing.
Height: 0.40m to 0.50m. Spread: 0.50m to 0.60m
Flowering starts early for a darleyensis hybrid, beginning in September and continues until March. The flowers are an unusual salmon pink in colour.

Uses
Hardy to -20°C, the Erica x darleyensis winter heathers prefer acid soils, but tolerate neutral soils. A sunny or semi-shady position suits them best for an optimal flowering.
In the WINTER BELLES ® range, ‘Katia’ shows pretty white bells by October; ‘Lucie’ is remarkable for its magnificent good-sized violet-red flowers, a dark foliage and round bushy shape; and compact ‘Phoebe’ spreads its salmon-pink flowering over a long period. Together with these three varieties, the new selections 2012 ‘Tyann’ and ‘Tylou’ allow an extension of a winter heather bed’s flowering, while bringing interesting colour shades in both flowers and foliages.
Prune after the flowering.
