Characteristics:
Co-obtained by INRA, Registered plant
This
multiclonal range has been selected for its resistance to Coryneum cardinale (Coryneum
canker) and also for its growth which is ideal for Mediterranean hedges.
'Antain',
'Antina', 'Anthos' and 'Arthur' are
the result of selection work carried out by INRA, Antibes and 'Agrimed 1' and
is a jointly registered by INRA, CNR (Italy) and FRI (Greece).
Untrained, the plants in the MISTRAL
® Range can attain a height of 25 - 30 m. The growth is mostly semi-horizontal
and upright, with a low wind-resistance. 'Agrimed
1' is compact and regular.
The choice of several
clones in a hedge gives a consistent look, a slight variation in the foliage,
a better resistance to parasites and in the case of infection; it avoids the rapid
spread which can occur with a single variety hedge.
Uses:
This group of plants can grow in any type of soil, even poor, except for suffocating
soil. Grafting onto seed grown Cupressus sempervirens gives perfect growth in
dry conditions and acid soil.
Ideal for windbreaks in natural areas, or for
hedges, the five clones in the MISTRAL ® Range
should be mixed for the best effectiveness.
