Pyracantha Gamme SAPHYR® Orange 'Cadange'
Hardy Pyracantha of the SAPHYR ® range with orange berries.
Description
This variety has all the characteristics of the SAPHYR ® range.
SAPHYR ® Orange 'Cadange', fast growing, has a profusion of big bright orange berries from September onwards, lasting the best part of the winter.
Range
The SAPHYR ® Range of Pyracanthus, free growing, reaches a heighth of 2 to 4 m and a spread of about 2 m. The growth is medium to vigorous depending on the variety; it is naturally upright.
The shiny foliage is evergreen to semi-evergreen and the branches are thorny.
Selected for their double resistance to fire blight and scab, these varieties flower abundantly from May to June, on the previous years wood. Numerous coloured berries appear in autumn and last a good part of winter; the branches bend under their weight.
These cultivations are hardy.
One of the assets of this range is that it can be grown as a trimmed hedge. But these varieties, very decorative at the end of the season, offer themselves for many other uses: as free growing hedges, trained against a wall or a fence, grown in containers.
Care
For a shaped hedge, cut regularly at the end of winter (preferably with secateurs), the berries grow on two-year-old wood.
