The Sapho catalogue is a selection of varieties of real interest to the ornamental market. These are plants with remarkable characteristics. As a grower, you get the impression of a well thought-out catalogue, a fairly selective choice with varieties that have strong innovative characteristics.
At Guillot-Bourne II Nurseries, we produce the graphiosis-resistant VADA® and LUTECE® elms in particular. These selections are a major asset for local authorities. They make it possible to replant this essential and historic species. The planting of 100 VADA® elms at the Tuileries, grown in our nurseries, is representative of the return of the elm to France.
At Domaine de Chapelan, we like to work on the depth of the range we offer garden centres. When we're looking for beautiful varieties, we regularly come across Sapho selections: Agapanthus, Abelia, Caryopteris, Lagerstroemia, Malus 'Evereste', Physocarpus Diable d'Or®, Potentilla, Salvia, Pyracantha, Sambucus... As I scroll through our available plants, I realise that we really do have a lot! The Sapho approach isn't about forced marketing, and that's an asset - let's keep it simple! The variety speaks for itself. I often say "living ILV is the greatest strength".
In 2015, Pierre de Prémare took over Guillot-Bourne II, which was founded in 1871. The nursery has become a sister company to Domaine de Chapelan and Chapelan Fruitiers. These three highly demanding companies are committed to producing quality plants and have been awarded the Plante Bleue or MPS and ‘Fleurs de France’ environmental certifications.
